Implementing Your Investment
MICROTECH-TEL has invested heavily to ensure the solution designed is implemented in a seamless manner to assure the customer full benefit.
Each new system installation is assigned a Project Manager who leads a Project Team consisting of Installation Technicians, cable installers, project coordinators and Customer Service Advisors. Our systems engineering and management groups support this Project Team.
The Team provides two major functions: (1) a firm engineering definition of all elements of the proposed project to provide you with the most cost effective and efficient system configuration, and (2) implementation planning, engineering, installation, testing, and user training. The Project Manager is the prime customer contact with overall responsibility to ensure the system installation and operation satisfies your requirements.
The implementation of the selected solution requires the type of experience and commitment that MICROTECH-TEL is uniquely suited to furnish.
Project Management, in essence, is the concentration of accountability in an individual who is dedicated to the entire solution implementation program, rather than to any one functional area. The Project Manager has the responsibility and authority to assign specific tasks to the appropriate functional organizations, which have been established to perform engineering, installation and testing. Project Management makes available a single point of contact within MICROTECH-TEL who is aware of, and responsible for our customers’ interests throughout implementation, ensuring that the project is receiving full management attention. The Project Manager defines the tasks of all participating functional organizations, to provide overall direction, and to integrate their output into a cohesive whole that satisfies both the customer and MICROTECH-TEL.
During the course of an installation the Project Manger and personnel assigned to the project from Engineering and Installation, form a close-knit team. Engineering specifies the equipment to meet your requirements and resolves any technical questions that might arise; installation implements these requirements. Senior technical people with field experience are on call to resolve non-routine problems in the field. The installation and test team has Manufacturers, Systems Engineering, the Technical Assistance Center and the internal organizations that support our products ready access to.
The activities performed by the implementation team include the following:
- A. Final Solution Engineering Definition. This includes definition of items such as feature application, station types and quantities, interfacing with the serving Telephone Company, trunk types and quantities, etc.
- B. Final survey of all physical site characteristics.
- C. Schedule agreements for all elements of engineering, installation, training, cutover, and in service.
- D. Coordination with serving telephone companies and all other communication service suppliers.
- E. Coordination of delivery, installation, testing, training, and cutover.
- F. Final test and acceptance plan design and completion
The project Plan also requires customer participation. As part of the installation, our customer will be responsible for the following:
- A. Designate contact(s) for the course of the project
- B. Provide a letter of agency allowing MICROTECH-TEL access to facilities and providing the ability to act as the agent’s representative with the operating telephone companies.
- C. Provide review and approval of the equipment room floor plan
- D. Provide coordination and input in the development of database, Class of Service assignments, and Station Message Detail Recording data.
- E. Provide access to work areas
- F. Provide the equipment room in accordance with published environmental requirements.
- G. Provide all commercial AC electrical requirements
- H. Provide secure storage for equipment during the Installation Phase and Maintenance Phase.
- I. Prepare the telephone directory
- J. Provide a contact for user training
- K. Perform building modifications, if required.
